L’Oréal Paris, the world’s largest beauty brand, proudly presents a unique stop-motion video starring iconic stylist Nabila to showcase the skin ageing process and how a healthy lifestyle can help fight the effects of time, on our skin.  The video supports Revitalift, the World’s Number 1 anti-wrinkle cream*, as the key ingredient of a healthy lifestyle and anti-ageing program, designed to help delay skin ageing.

Indeed this video is a manifestation of L’Oréal Paris’ commitment to innovation in beauty. This concept video is based on the premise that ‘Your lifestyle is what you make it’ with Nabila as the L’Oréal Paris Revitalift muse.  The first part of the video centers on the notion of time, the environment, levels of stress and diet: These are illustrated to show the adverse effects to the health of the skin. On the solution side, it reveals how exercise, water intake, a healthy diet and a definitive anti-ageing programme through New Revitalift Face, Contours and Neck can control ageing, leaving the skin firmer and more youthful for longer.

The video is meant to be an awakening to show how we can delay skin ageing if we follow the right healthy lifestyle principles.

With concept and direction by fashion designer Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, the video has also been produced by Nabila, at the YBQ Photo Studio with Zeeshan Haider as the photographer and editor.

About the stop-motion video, stylist Nabila has said, “I have been a definitive part of the beauty industry for almost two decades and believe in the power of reinvention and dynamism to stay current and fresh. With this video, I wanted to show how readjusting your life, trying new solutions and embracing change positively, can rejuvenate ones beauty, health and being: Thereby dictating to time and not allowing time dictate to you.”

Music for the video has been composed by Blue Frog, with wardrobe by Compulsory, styling by the creative team at Nabila’s, coordination by Zinc and video edit and post production by Post House.

A Hair Care and Skin Care Guide

by

L’Oréal Pakistan Spokesperson and Make-up Artist/Stylist Anusheh Asad

It’s only March and summer seems to be trying to kick in full throttle! Well the onset of summer mostly means bad news for most of us. Along with the overture of creepy crawlies (shriieekkk) skins go oily and hair goes dry (what an irony!), feet get cracking and lips starts chapping. If you ask me, the latter is not half the nightmare as compared to the former! (is the extinction of these species possible?) Some might beg to differ though, so for those folks, I have some super hot (pun intended) summer fixes that promise to ease your summer woes….

HAIR

Whether you have been too busy to focus on your ends, or have been frantically heat styling those locks left right and center, make sure that you try to keep down splittage to a minimum. You definitely cant glue back a split end, so once the damage is done, it’s done.

QUICK FIX:

  • Use a good leave in conditioner [Elvive Anti-Breakage Conditioner] to help the ends from splitting further.
  • Oil your hair at least once a week to replenish moisture. Coconut oil, olive oil and mustard oil (sarson) are most beneficial for us lot.
  • Boost the nourishment reaching your hair, by adding to your oil, the contents from 2 vitamin E capsules or use L’Oréal Paris’ Elvive Re-Nutrition with royal jelly extracted from bees wax.
  • Use protective serums when heat styling.
  • Minimize the need to blow dry by getting a great cut!

Remember, it is always better to prevent than to repair. The point is to keep the hair nourished and allow it to retain moisture.

SKIN

What is up with most of us not moisturizing our face and neck in the summer?

One of the biggest misconceptions people have here is that one should not use moisturizer in the summer time. Nothing could be farther from the truth! Just like in winter the cold exhausts our skins of moisture, in summer, the scorching heat drains out our skin’s moisture. Generally people have two concerns- skin gets oilier, skin might erupt in acne. Both apprehensions are not legit. In fact, when the skin doesn’t receive hydration, it gets parched and dry, leading to imbalance. This imbalance results in the skin secreting more oil to counter what it thinks is happening! So, in reality, moisturizing the skin actually helps ‘oily and acne’ conditions.

QUICK FIX:

  • Use a light weight SPF based moisturizer that protects against pigmentation and darkening effects of UV rays [L’Oréal Paris White Perfect with SPF 15]. This should become your summer time bestfriend!
  • For oily skin use L’Oréal Paris Pure Zone face wash that removes excessive shine and leaves skin balanced.
  • Couple this with L’Oréal Paris White Perfect – Night Cream before going to bed to repair the skin and corrects the skin for more even and flawless skin.
  • Apply moisturizer to damp face right after washing it as opposed to completely drying it off.
  • Spritz skin with hydrating rose water twice a day.
  • Exude true radiance, from inside out, by having 8-10 glasses of water a day (trust me this works like magic)
  • Load up on fresh fruits, veggies and juices during summer.
  • Start a vitamin supplement. Look for the one that has been designed for healthy, glowing skin.

It’s key to let the skin breathe. Pamper your skin every now and then with a boosting facial/massage.

At any age, good skincare starts with protecting your skin from avoidable damage, particularly sun damage, and establishing a sensible basic daily routine matching your skin type. You can further optimize it by taking into account the physiology of the forth decade of life. Thirties is the time when physiological changes characteristic of ageing begin to manifest. The levels of many hormones and growth factors begin to decline (some faster than others) metabolism and cell turnover rate begin to slow down. Your skin may have accumulated sufficient amount of damage to have some degree of visible roughness, fine lines and discolorations. It is the time to make your skin care more comprehensive. L’Oréal Paris, the world’s leading beauty brand, has always led the way with new trends and science and it is no surprise through these innovative measures they keep refining and developing skin care regimes which addresses all areas of beauty.

Their latest innovation which has just been introduced globally also available in Pakistan, is New Revitalift for Face, Contours and Neck. This small bundle of surprise takes care of our everyday skin needs and acts not only as a precautionary agent but also as a home remedial agent with the latest anti-ageing technology based on research findings done by L’Oréal Paris skin experts. This recontouring care is enriched with Vitafibrine, Pro-Retinol A and double the concentration of Elastin than the Day cream and has been specifically formulated to leave skin feeling firmer and more defined. The two major active ingredients are Vitafibrine; to fight against skin network distortion while consolidating the existing Elastin fibres network and so acts to improve its weaving, and 2X more Elastin [compared to Revitalift Day Cream]; It’s amino acid composition is close to skin’s elastin which is essential to skin’s elasticity and firmness.

With the winter season over and summer just around the corner, its benefits to our asian skins are simple yet concise: deep firming and recontouring action on face, contours and neck, just the thing we need to get around our daily routine without worrying too much about covering up our ageing skin.
